Bulgaria's Darik Radio Marks Birthday with Special Programme
Bulgaria's Darik Radio will have a special festive programme and many surprises for its audience on Monday when the popular media celebrates its 14th birthday.
The celebrations will go under the motto "The difference is in the radio", and the audience will be treated to special surprises.
The program started at 7 a.m. with the Valchev and Valchev morning broadcast, its presenters being Darik Radio's voice Kiril Valchev and country's Education Minister Daniel Valchev.
At 9 a.m. they passed on the torch to theatre actress Maya Novoselska and director Tedi Moskov.
Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil also had his own 30-minute broadcast, called "Leather ball and Tractor with a plough".
Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Boris Velchev will make the comment on recent political and civil issues at one o'clock sharp. His place will be taken by Sofia Mayor Boyko Borissov, who will have a one-hour show, called "The Mayor's Hour".
During the day listeners will hear on the radio the voices of many other political figures, artist and singers.
Listeners will have a once in a lifetime experience to hear the world news at 12 sharp from Deputy Foreign Minister Gergana Grancharova. The evening news broadcast will be delivered by Bulgaria's Interior Minister Rumen Petkov and Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov.
The radio presented last week its new programme schedule for 2007 promising that the changes will make it easier to adjust to Bulgaria's new reality in the EU.
Starting January 29, Gong sports radio will receive a bigger outlet with extra hours added to its schedule, much to the pleasure of sports fans. On that date Darik will also add two new web sites to its on-line family, one dedicated to the radio and the other to sports news.
The company currently manages Bulgaria's leading online Bulgarian language media Darik News (http://www.darik.net ), which merged in the middle of September with Novinite.com, the biggest English language news provider in Bulgaria.
The top online project, called DarikWeb, Inc., was born after Darik News acquired 51% stake in Novinite OOD.
Lyudmil Karzhilov and Milena Trapcheva were appointed Managing Directors of DarikWeb, Inc.
Both Novinite.com and Darik News are leading online media, have a long history behind them and thousands of committed readers.
After the merger they offer real time news pieces in Bulgarian and English on similar topics.
