Bulgarian food, Bulgarian home made oatmeal biscuits
Bulgarian honey is reputed to bee… the best in the world. Try this traditional Bulgarian home made honey oatmeal biscuit recipe.
125 g Plain flour
Half teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda
Half teaspoon Baking powder
Half teaspoon Salt
1 Pack Vanilla powder 0.2g or 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
Sift all the above ingredients together twice, set aside.
125g Brown sugar (I prefer light)
125 Caster sugar
Beat the above ingredients to a cream, set aside.
2 Tablespoons Bulgarian honey
Make the honey runny, but not hot (other wise the egg with cook), add the egg and beat well, set aside.
Combine above ingredients, set aside.
Beat the egg and honey into butter & sugar mixture.
Beat in the flour mixture.
Combine the oatmeal & raisins by stirring in.
Grease a full size baking sheet
Drop heaped tablespoons of mixture onto the baking sheet. You should space them so that you get nine on the sheet.
Bake in a preheated oven at around 170 degrees centigrade for about 12-15 minutes. You will have to experiment with your oven, you are looking for a golden brown colour, cooked for at least 10-12 minutes.
